Hillfields July Newsletter

Dear residents of Hillfields,

As we step into August, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the work carried out by your local police team throughout July 2025. Sergeant PS Powell and the team have remained committed to ensuring safety and security for everyone in our community.

Our primary policing priority continues to be Vernon Court, where efforts to prevent crime and maintain order remain a top focus. This month, we’ve intensified patrols in the area and worked closely with partner agencies to enhance crime prevention strategies, ensuring that residents feel safer in their homes and surroundings.  In doing so we are focusing our enforcement around issuing Community Protection Warning to persons involved in the Anti-social behaviour this has been causing.

Additionally, the team has been actively tackling issues related to sex work and kerb crawling in the area. Through increased enforcement, engagement, and disruption tactics, we’ve made significant strides in addressing these concerns and reducing their impact on the community. Collaborative efforts with support services have also been strengthened, ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive the guidance and assistance they need.

Throughout July, the team made arrests related to various offences, including Prison Recall, Theft and Fail to appear warrant.  The team have also issued in June, Eight Community Protection Warnings and One Community Protection Notice which led to an arrest.

These actions demonstrate our ongoing commitment to removing criminal elements from the community and ensuring Hillfields remains a safe place for all residents.

Additionally, St. Michaels have executed Warrants at identified addresses within Hillfields, resulting in an individual receiving a Community Protection Warning and partnership enforcement with Citizen Housing.  This operation underscores our relentless efforts to disrupt drug-related crime in the area.

We have also participated in weapon sweeps in identified areas linked to serious youth violence which resulted in the finding of knifes and being taken of the streets of Coventry.

Such initiatives continue to raise awareness and strengthen community efforts in partnership working and building trust and confidence with the communities which we serve.

Moreover, the team completed engagement with Positive Youth Foundation where we have purchased pool queues to support the staff and teenagers engaging with the service.

This was well received showing our dedication and support the team have made to all members of the community, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals.

As part of our local policing plan, we have increased high-visibility patrols in key areas such as Craners Road to provide reassurance and deter criminal activity. Our officers continue to engage with residents, ensuring open lines of communication and swift responses to concerns.

It has come to our attention that there have been reports of furniture and unwanted items being dumped on the streets of Hillfields, I will encourage you all to be aware of the website ‘Fix My Street’.  This will allow yourselves as residents to report these matters along with damaged street furniture to the Local Authority:

FixMyStreet

In July we held our Police and Communities Together at the new venue of Thomas King House, Community room.  This allowed the opportunity for residents to discuss issues with ourselves and our partners Citizen Housing.

These meetings are valuable way to strengthen community ties and gather feedback on policing efforts.

The next planned meeting is 8th September from 1700hrs till 1800hrs at Thomas King House, if you would like details around our planned meetings information can be found at: West Midlands Police – St Michaels Meetings and Events.
